This raises the issue about what we should do with nuclear waste. I have a basic question: Regardless of political opposition, where is the safest and best place, from a scientific standpoint, to store nuclear waste? Is that place Yucca Mountain.

Within the continental U.S., it probably is Yucca Mountain or some other place within the arid West.

Particularly if nuclear energy in the US is part of the solution to global climate change (which it seems to be a necessary ingredient) figuring this out is quite a pressing problem.
